• Training yourself not to think about The Game is nearly impossible, and often counter-productive. The best strategies involve causing others to lose more than yourself.

The best way to do this is to always announce your loss to as many people as possible. This reminds current players about The Game and initiates new ones.

It is very difficult to consciously cause someone to lose without losing yourself. You can try and cause others to associate objects or events with The Game. For example, you could tell a friend that whenever they see their bed they will lose. This can back-fire unless well thought out, in this example you could end up associating your bed with loss. An object which is only found in your friend's room would be a better target.

    Reminders

A much less subtle technique involves leaving reminders in places that will be seen by others more than yourself. This could include graffiti, notes & signs, forum posts, messenger names, answerphone messages and much more.

Wearing a Game t-shirt should cause everyone around you to lose without you losing yourself. It also initiates new players with ease.

    Other Languages

Around 500 million people speak English. The Game's translation into Mandarin creates another billion potential losers of The Game. 500 million people speak Hindi. Spanish = 400 million. Arabic = 250 million. Indonesian = 200 million etc... If you speak any language other than English, please translate the rules for us here.

    LoseTheGame.com

Use LoseTheGame.com to initiate people into The Game in situations where the rules cannot be explained. For example, writing on bank notes (dollar bills) will lead players to the rules via this site.

If you have access to a vehicle, make a sign to go on the back window. This one was made using tape, marker pen and Tipp-Ex (correction fluid):

Post game all over the internet and this site will become the top ranking site when people search Google for the word "game". This is known as a Google bomb.

    Lose The Game Competition

If you can lose The Game and explain the rules on national radio/tv or in a national magazine/newspaper (see above for some suggestions) then we will give you a free personalised Game t-shirt. You will also be awarded a legendary Game Award.

Send a copy/recording of your loss to mail@losethegame.com

If you are going to an event that will be broadcast on TV (such as a football match), you could try writing the rules of The Game on a flag or banner.

    Game censorship & anti-Game attitudes

Some people seem to find the concept of The Game very offensive, and it can provoke strong reactions, especially in online forums. Discussion of The Game has been banned from SomethingAwful.com and GameSpy.com

We encourage you to oppose such censorship by losing The Game in these forums. You can register on GameSpy.com for free by clicking here. You don't have to provide correct information or confirm the email address so it should only take a minute.

In 2008 The Game was banned by Fairless High School, Ohio. Students have been threatened with suspension if they lose. Fortunately, they have not been deterred and are planning to make more people lose than ever before!

In December 2008, an employee of Target was fired for losing The Game whilst at work. Let Target know what you think about this here.

If you know of any other places where The Game has been banned, let us know in the forum.
